LeftField Media is expanding its convention portfolio with the introduction of KPEX: Korean Pop Culture Expo. Scheduled to debut at the Javits Center from May 29-31, 2027, the three-day event will offer a deep dive into South Korean entertainment, ranging from K-Pop and K-Dramas to gaming, manhwa, and culinary arts. The expo aims to blend fan-facing experiences like autograph sessions and nightly concerts with a dedicated business-to-business track for industry professionals.
The project is helmed by a powerhouse team of convention veterans, including New York Comic-Con co-creator Greg Topalian, PAX co-creator Robert Khoo, and Anime NYC founder Peter Tatara. Given LeftField Media's recent success with Anime NYC, which drew a crowd of 172,000 this past August, the organizers are well-positioned to manage a large-scale launch of this magnitude.
Initial partners for the event include the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and Ize Press. While the guest list remains under wraps, the organizers have confirmed that the programming will be extensive, featuring workshops and interactive panels throughout the weekend. Tickets for the inaugural expo are scheduled to go on sale on September 18 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.
