Mami Tsumura, the mangaka recognized for the poignant drama Kotaro Lives Alone, is launching a fresh project titled Tanosuke no Kawazanyō. The announcement was featured in the 18th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine, confirming that the first chapter will arrive in the publication's 19th issue on September 11.
This new release sees Tsumura returning to the pages of Big Comic Superior, the same magazine that hosted the long-running serialization of Kotaro Lives Alone from 2015 to 2023. Beyond this upcoming title, Tsumura continues to work on her ongoing series Ore no Baa-san, which began its run in Big Comic Original in March 2026.
While Kotaro Lives Alone achieved widespread visibility through its 2018 Electronic Manga Award win and subsequent adaptations on Netflix and in live-action television, Tsumura's portfolio remains diverse. With the author now managing multiple serializations, readers are left to wonder how the tone of this latest entry will distinguish itself from her previous character-focused narratives.
