The 10th anniversary "Colorful" event for the KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world! franchise has officially cleared the path for its next chapter. A fourth season is currently in production with a planned 2027 debut, accompanied by a new teaser visual that promises more of the series' signature slapstick comedy.
This upcoming season marks a notable shift in production, with studio ENGI taking the reins. While the franchise has seen a rotating door of animation houses—including Studio DEEN, J.C. Staff, and Drive—the creative core remains largely intact. Takaomi Kanasaki is set to return as chief director, joined by new director Manabu Kurihara. Longtime series contributors, including scriptwriter Makoto Uezu, character designer Koichi Kikuta, and composer Masato Kōda, are also confirmed to return, ensuring the show’s established comedic tone remains consistent.
Since its 2016 debut, the franchise has maintained a massive following, with the second season holding a strong 8.24 rating on MyAnimeList from over a million voters. The series has expanded significantly over the last decade, branching out from the main television seasons into the Legend of Crimson film, the An Explosion on This Wonderful World! spinoff, and various OVA releases. With the latest announcement, the production committee looks to capitalize on the momentum generated by the third season's 2024 run.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary, a new promotional video was released featuring a fresh arrangement of Machico’s iconic opening theme, "fantastic dreamer." As fans await the 2027 return of Kazuma and his dysfunctional party, the franchise continues to expand its footprint with upcoming mobile and PC game projects.
