During the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 livestream, Hideo Kojima provided a significant update on his studio's upcoming projects, most notably confirming that actor Bill Skarsgård will take the lead role in the action-espionage game PHYSINT. A new promotional visual released alongside the announcement also features Charlee Fraser, signaling the expanding cast for the project.

The announcement follows a major shift in the game's distribution strategy. While Sony Interactive Entertainment was previously attached to the project, Xbox Game Studios officially stepped in as the new publisher last week. Kojima noted that the development team is currently focused on casting, talent scanning, and coordinating with various creative partners to bring the title to life.

Kojima also addressed the status of the horror project OD KNOCK, confirming that production is back on track. Performance capture and ADR recording sessions have resumed following the conclusion of the SAG strike, and the team is currently meeting their scheduled production milestones.

These developments arrive as the studio continues to expand its reach beyond interactive gaming. The franchise is currently seeing significant multimedia growth, including a live-action film adaptation directed by Michael Sarnoski and the upcoming adult animated feature DEATH STRANDING MOSQUITO, directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto at ABC ANIMATION STUDIO. Additionally, the anime series Death Stranding Isolations is slated for a 2027 debut on Disney+.
