After years of digital-only availability via the K MANGA service, George Morikawa's iconic boxing saga Hajime no Ippo: Fighting Spirit! is finally receiving a North American print release. Kodansha USA confirmed the news during their panel at Anime NYC, announcing that the series will be presented in premium omnibus volumes. Each paperback will bundle three volumes of the original Japanese release, offering a substantial way for collectors to own the historic sports series.

The announcement marks a major milestone for the franchise, which has long been a staple of the medium with over 100 million copies sold worldwide. The story follows Ippo Makunouchi, a bullied high school student whose life changes forever after a chance encounter with professional boxer Mamoru Takamura leads him to the Kamogawa Boxing Gym. It remains a foundational text for sports manga, having inspired a long-running, critically acclaimed anime adaptation that holds a stellar 8.7 rating on MyAnimeList.

In addition to the long-awaited Ippo physical collection, Kodansha USA also expanded its catalog with the acquisition of the horror manga Trapped on Tape!. While the publisher is prioritizing the Ippo omnibus as a centerpiece of its upcoming slate, the addition of new horror titles signals a continued diversification of their physical lineup. Fans can look forward to the first Ippo omnibuses hitting shelves in Fall 2027.
