Kodama Tales has secured the English publishing rights for Keisuke Itagaki's New Grappler Baki manga. This title serves as the direct sequel to the original Baki The Grappler series. The publisher plans to release the first two volumes of the new English edition in November.
Originally serialized in Japan from 1999 to 2005, New Grappler Baki ran for 31 volumes. In Japan, a compiled edition re-released the series across 17 volumes. Kodama Tales recently began publishing the original Baki The Grappler manga in English last October.
The Baki franchise has seen numerous manga installments since the original series debuted in 1991, including Hanma Baki, two Baki-Dou series, and the ongoing Baki Rahen. A new spinoff manga, Baki Gaiden Doppo: Hitori Nomi Kui Aruki, is also set to launch in May.
Several Baki manga have been adapted into anime, with Netflix producing multiple series. The most recent anime adaptation, BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai, premiered on Netflix in February, adapting the first Baki-Dou manga. Previous Netflix adaptations include Baki, Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen, and Baki Hanma.
