Keiichi Sigsawa, the creative mind behind the celebrated Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World light novel series, has launched his first original manga. Working alongside artist Hayato Asaki, Sigsawa began the serialization of Kemono-tachi no Peregrinatio (Peregrinatio Bestiarum) on the Weekly CoroCoro Comic website this past Friday.
The series presents a bleak, post-apocalyptic vision where humanity was nearly eradicated by giant beasts decades ago. In the remnants of this ruined world, survivors have adapted to a reality where these creatures are no longer mindless threats but are instead controlled by individuals known as Beast Tamers. The story follows a Tamer named Riko and her companion, Al, as they navigate the remains of civilization to uncover the truth behind the beasts' origins.
Sigsawa’s transition to the manga format follows a storied history in light novels. His seminal work, Kino's Journey, has spanned 24 volumes since its debut in 2000 and has seen multiple adaptations, including the 2003 A.C.G.T. series directed by Ryuutarou Nakamura and the 2017 Lerche reimagining helmed by Tomohisa Taguchi. With this new venture, Sigsawa brings his penchant for world-building to the CoroCoro platform, where the series is currently available for readers.
