King of Prism -Tri-Star Act-, a new film in the popular anime franchise, has officially begun production. The announcement was made during the "King of Prism Super Live Prism☆Tours!" event on Sunday. The upcoming movie will center on "Prism.3," a competition for trios performing the series' signature Prism Shows.
The teaser visual, illustrated by character designer Mai Matsuura, carries the tagline, "Those bonds will be tested now…" Original chief director Masakazu Hishida returns to helm the project at Tatsunoko Production, joined by many key staff members from previous entries. Scriptwriter Jou Aoba, character designer Mai Matsuura, CG director Yoshihiro Otobe, original Prism Jump designer Daisuke Katō, musical composer Rei Ishizuka, and sound supervisor Nobuto Kojima are all reprising their roles. Avex Film Labels is set to distribute the film.
The King of Prism series originated as a spinoff of the Pretty Rhythm franchise. Its cinematic journey began with KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm in January 2016, followed by King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO in June 2017. The King of Prism: Shiny Seven Stars project expanded into both a theatrical film series and a 12-episode television anime, which aired in April 2019 and was streamed by Crunchyroll. Most recently, the film King of Prism -Your Endless Call- Miinna Kirameki! Prism☆Tours opened in June 2025, becoming the franchise's highest-grossing film to date with 1.2 billion yen.
