Ikumi Hasegawa has been cast as Mai Otohime in the Kill Blue television anime. Otohime is described as a marine sports prodigy known as the 'Mermaid Queen,' possessing both a shy 'Chibi-hime' persona and a bold 'Gyaru-hime' side.
Directed by Hiro Kaburagi with character designs by Miho Daidōji, Kill Blue is produced by CUE, a studio established in 2023 by former Production I.G executive Rui Kuroki. The anime features an opening theme song, 'ATTITUDE,' by South Korean girl group aespa and an ending theme, 'KILL SHOT,' by boy band RIIZE.
The series premiered in Japan on April 11, with streaming available domestically and internationally on services including Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video. The manga, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, concluded in September 2023. Viz Media is handling the English print and digital release of the manga.
