Indie publisher 247 Comics is preparing to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund a 20th Anniversary Collection for Misaho Kujiradou's Princess Ai manga. The upcoming collection promises to bring together the original manga trilogy along with exclusive "rare vault material" and other bonus content for fans.
The Princess Ai series, originally conceived by Courtney Love and D. J. Milky, featured character designs by acclaimed artist Ai Yazawa. The manga itself was serialized in Shinshokan's Wings magazine between 2004 and 2005, with Tokyopop handling its English release from 2004 to 2006. A sequel, Princess Ai: The Prism of Midnight Dawn, later debuted in 2008.
Details regarding the specific launch date for the Kickstarter campaign have not yet been revealed. 247 Comics, a U.S.-based publisher focused on creator-owned works, recently announced a publishing partnership with Tokyopop.
