The stage play adaptation of Shō Aimoto's Kemono Jihen manga has expanded its cast ahead of its Tokyo run. The production, subtitled "Tokyo Arc," will feature Sōshō Tomimoto as Kabane Kusaka, Shūhei Izumi as Kohachi Inugami, and Naoki Tanaka as Shiki Tademaru. The full cast also includes Takuto Ōmi as Akira, Seshiru Daigo as Yoko Inari, Naoki Kunishima as Mihai Florescu, Risa Haruka as Kon, Tesshin Genma as Nobimaru, Erika Ishitobi as Aya Tademaru, Itsuki Otaki as Kumi Yamagumonoko, Yūho Matsui as Yui, and Ariso Yamakawa as Akio Tademaru.

Directed by Nobuhiro Mōri with a screenplay by Chong Gwangsong, the play is scheduled to run from September 17 to 27 at Theater H in Tokyo. The original Kemono Jihen manga, which follows occult detective Kohachi Inugami and a mysterious boy named Dorotabo, launched in Shueisha's Jump SQ. in December 2016. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the series in English.

The manga's supernatural mystery and found-family themes resonated with audiences, leading to a 12-episode anime adaptation that premiered in Winter 2021. The anime currently holds a 7.36 score on MyAnimeList from over 187,000 voters, indicating a strong existing fanbase for the property.
