The fantasy series The Villainess Speaks Not (Akuyaku Reijō wa Shaberimasen) is making the jump from prose to panel, with a new manga adaptation now live on Overlap’s Comic Gardo platform. The adaptation is illustrated by Ryū Miduki, bringing the high-stakes political intrigue and magical combat of Kei Yose’s original work to a visual medium.
The story follows Liliana, a young girl who finds herself reincarnated into the body of an otome game villainess. Plagued by a fever that has rendered her mute, she must navigate a dangerous world of assassins and political maneuvering. While her enemies underestimate her due to her inability to speak, Liliana discovers she can cast magic without the traditional incantations, allowing her to rewrite her own grim destiny years before the game’s main events even begin.
Kei Yose first introduced this narrative on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2020. Overlap later began publishing the light novel series, featuring illustrations by Ruria Miyuki, in April 2024. With the sixth volume of the light novel set to hit shelves on August 20, the series continues to expand its reach both in Japan and internationally through J-Novel Club’s digital releases.
