The upcoming second season of Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman) has unveiled a slate of new voice actors and an action-focused promotional video. The fantasy adventure series, based on Shigeru Sagazaki's novel, is set to debut on July 8. Viewers can catch the premiere on TV Asahi at 11:45 p.m., with subsequent broadcasts on AT-X and BS Asahi.
Joining the cast for the new season are Takashi Kondou as Hanoy Cressa, Hiromu Mineta as Kuriu Rybark, Mami Uchida as Prim, and Hiroshi Yanaka as Morris Pasyushka. The anime's returning staff includes directors Akio Kazumi and Tatsuya Takahashi, with character designs and chief animation direction by Satsuki Hayasaka. Yasuharu Takanashi is returning to compose the music.
Fans can also anticipate new musical contributions for the season. The rock band UNICORN will perform the opening theme song, titled "Kurenai no Ha," while BLUE ENCOUNT is providing the ending theme, "Mikansei."
The Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru franchise, which also includes a manga adaptation, has seen steady releases for its source material. The tenth volume of the light novel was released in Japan in December, with J-Novel Club handling the English license. Yen Press publishes the manga adaptation.
