During this year's Anime NYC, Abrams ComicArts' Kana imprint unveiled a significant expansion of its publishing slate. The publisher confirmed that it has secured the English-language rights for six new manga titles, with the rollout scheduled to continue through 2027.
Leading the announcement is Children of the Afterlife (Kakuriyo no Sennichi Hina) by creator Yamakujira. Set against the backdrop of the Meiji era, the series blends historical drama with folklore, centering on an errand-runner tasked with collecting the souls of those whose time has reached its end. The title is currently slated for a June 1, 2027 release.
While the publisher is keeping the full details of the remaining five acquisitions under wraps for now, the announcement reinforces Kana's commitment to bringing varied storytelling to the English market. By focusing on titles that bridge traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern narrative sensibilities, the imprint continues to carve out a distinct niche in the North American manga landscape.
