Following a successful reception as a one-shot in Kodansha's special Young Magazine US English issue last August, Still You by creator Kami Nishio is expanding into a full-scale series. The title is scheduled to begin its regular serialization on the YanMaga Web platform on August 24.
The narrative explores the lingering emotional fallout between two high school boys, Reo and Rui. After a childhood kiss led to a traumatic incident involving Reo's older brother, the two have maintained a strained distance for three years. The tension reaches a breaking point when Reo begins dating a girl named Momo, who quickly realizes that despite their relationship, Reo’s attention remains fixated on Rui.
This move to ongoing serialization highlights the continued impact of the Young Magazine US project. The initiative has served as a pipeline for new talent, with other titles like To Dusk and Twilight and Protocol Ryugu already finding their footing in the industry. As Still You prepares for its digital debut, it joins a growing roster of international-facing works that Kodansha is actively shepherding into the Japanese market.
