The production committee for the Kagurabachi anime announced that voice actor Yūichi Nakamura will join the cast as Soshiro Azami, a sorcerer working with the Kamunabi. Nakamura joins a growing ensemble that includes Taihi Kimura as the protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira and Tomokazu Seki as his father, Kunishige.
Directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi at studio Cypic, the series is slated for an April 2027 premiere. The production has maintained a high profile through a global screening tour that visited major conventions including Anime Expo and Anime NYC, offering fans an early look at the first 20 minutes of the opening episode. The full premiere is scheduled to screen in Japan in spring 2027.
Since its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, Takeru Hokazono’s series has seen significant commercial and critical success, recently surpassing 4 million copies in circulation. The title has garnered international recognition, including nominations for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards and the Shogakukan Manga Awards. While the anime's streaming availability is confirmed for most of the world, it will notably exclude Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea at launch.
With the cast list filling out, the focus now shifts to the remaining production staff and the specific streaming platforms that will host the series. Given the manga's rapid rise in the Next Manga Awards and its strong print performance, the adaptation remains one of the most closely watched projects in the current Shonen Jump lineup.
