The Japanese video game market saw a fresh shake-up during the week of September 21-27, with Derby Stallion claiming the top spot on the charts. The title moved 29,336 units in its opening week, narrowly outpacing the steady performance of Rhythm Heaven Groove, which continues to see consistent sales, now totaling over 1.04 million copies since its July release.
Nintendo platforms dominated the top of the list, with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave securing third place with 26,728 units sold. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 saw a notable entry with Silent Hill: Townfall landing at fourth place, shifting 13,596 units in its debut week. Square Enix also saw a successful re-entry with the release of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age โ Definitive Edition, which took the fifth position.
Beyond the top five, the charts reflect a mix of recent releases and long-standing evergreen titles. EA Sports FC 27 made a significant impact, appearing in the top 20 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Older staples like Minecraft and Mario Kart World continue to maintain their presence, proving the enduring popularity of established franchises in the current retail landscape.
