The latest sales data from Japan shows a strong debut for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which claimed the top spot on the PlayStation 5 charts for the week of August 31 to September 6. Capcom’s new title moved 76,530 units on PS5, with an additional 19,499 copies sold on the Nintendo Switch, securing the third position on the overall list.
Elsewhere in the top 20, established favorites continue to perform well. Rhythm Heaven Groove is closing in on the one-million-copy mark, currently sitting at 975,289 total units. Meanwhile, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate—a title that has been a staple of the Japanese market since its 2018 release—continues to see consistent movement, with its lifetime sales now reaching 5,947,780 copies.
New releases also made their mark this week, including the Bandai Namco title My Hero Academia: All's Justice, which debuted at number 18 with 2,181 copies sold. Other notable entries include The Blood of Dawnwalker and Orbitals, both of which entered the charts following their September 3 release dates. As the market shifts toward these new arrivals, it remains to be seen if the momentum for Onimusha will hold through the remainder of the month.
