The Japanese physical game market saw Rhythm Heaven Groove retain its dominance for the week of August 3-9, moving an additional 55,827 units. Since its July 2 release, the title has accumulated a total of 790,303 copies sold, solidifying its place as a major success for the Nintendo Switch platform.
Breaking up the Nintendo streak, the new PlayStation 5 release Beast of Reincarnation from Happinet claimed the second position. The title moved 43,010 units in its opening week, marking the most significant non-Nintendo launch of the period. Meanwhile, Splatoon Raiders maintains its steady performance, securing the third spot with 32,386 units sold, bringing its total lifetime sales to over 580,000.
Elsewhere on the charts, evergreen titles continue to show remarkable longevity. Minecraft persists in the top ten with over 4.2 million total units sold, while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remain staples of the weekly rankings, despite being years removed from their initial launch dates. Nippon Ichi Software’s Village in the Shade also saw notable multi-platform activity, appearing in the top 20 across three different entries based on console versions.
