The production team for Inherit the Winds (Kaze wo Tsugumono) has revealed that voice actor Yasuyuki Kase will join the cast as Serizawa Kamo, the influential chief commander of the Mibu Rōshigumi. This addition bolsters an already star-studded lineup for the historical drama, which centers on a mysterious, amnesiac protagonist named Tachikawa Jinsuke—voiced by Snow Man’s Daisuke Sakuma—who finds himself thrust into the volatile politics of 1863 Kyoto.
Directed by Tomohiro Kawamura at Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc., the series draws heavily from the Shinsengumi’s legendary history. The production is spearheaded by playwright Yutaka Narui, founder of the Caramel Box troupe, whose extensive experience with Shinsengumi-themed stage plays provides the narrative backbone for this original project. The series is set to air as part of the "Agaru Anime" block on TBS, CBC, and their affiliates starting in January 2027, with an exclusive theatrical preview planned for later in 2026.
Beyond the screen, the franchise is expanding into print with a four-panel manga adaptation illustrated by Matsuri Muramatsu. The manga is slated to begin serialization on the Twi4 X account in 2026. While the title shares a name with one of Narui’s previous stage productions, the anime is being billed as a distinct original work, promising a fresh perspective on the final years of the Edo period.
