Inherit the Winds (Kaze wo Tsugumono), the upcoming original historical anime, has expanded its cast with the addition of Simba Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya is set to voice the role of Harada Sanosuke, joining an already impressive roster of voice talent including Yūki Kaji as Okita Sōji, Daisuke Sakuma as the amnesiac protagonist Tachikawa Jinsuke, and Kōki Uchiyama as Hijikata Toshizō.
Set against the backdrop of the Bakumatsu era, the story follows a mysterious man who is discovered and taken in by the Mibu Roushigumi—the precursor to the legendary Shinsengumi. Under the guidance of Okita Sōji, the protagonist begins a new life as Jinsuke Tachikawa, eventually becoming embroiled in the intense political and social upheaval of the late Edo period. The project is a collaboration between original story creator Yutaka Narui, known for his extensive stage work regarding the Shinsengumi, and producers at Aniplex.
Directed by Tomohiro Kawamura, the production is a joint effort between Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc. The series is scheduled for a January 2027 broadcast across the "Agaru Anime" programming block, though fans can look forward to an early theatrical preview screening sometime in 2026.
Beyond the screen, the franchise is expanding into print with a four-panel manga adaptation illustrated by Matsuri Muramatsu. The manga will debut on the Twi4 X account in 2026, providing a lighter look at the characters before the full-scale historical drama hits television airwaves.
