Idea Factory is diversifying its development portfolio with the launch of a new label, IFChronicle, focused on the adventure game genre. The brand's inaugural project, ICONOLOGY, was unveiled this week alongside a pair of promotional videos, confirming a release for both Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. This new venture sits alongside the company's existing labels, Otomate and Compile Heart.
The production team for the project features notable industry talent, including scenario writer Makoto Fukami, known for his work on the Psycho-Pass franchise, and character designer Teita, who previously worked on Charade Maniacs. The project is under the direction of Asami Saito. The company stated that the new brand is intended to foster a broader international conversation regarding adventure games.
Beyond the game itself, the project will expand into print media with a manga adaptation. Illustrated by Ichi Sayo, the series is set to begin serialization in Ichijinsha's Comic Howl web magazine on October 14. While the manga's debut date is set, release windows for the game remain unconfirmed. With a multimedia rollout already in motion, it remains to be seen how closely the game and print narratives will align.
