The city of Icheon in Gyeonggi Province has introduced a creative competition centered on the use of generative AI for digital storytelling. The contest tasks participants with crafting original webtoons that explore how the diplomatic strategies of the Goryeo-era figure Seo Hui might be applied to contemporary issues.

Open to residents across three distinct divisions—elementary, middle/high school, and general—the submission period runs from July 8 through August 14. Entrants are required to submit completed works of up to 20 panels, with a mandatory disclosure of the specific AI software utilized during the creation process. Files must meet technical standards of 1,500 pixels in width at 300 dpi.

A total of 12 entries will be selected for the Icheon Mayor's Award, with a total prize pool of 3 million won (approximately US$2,200) up for grabs. This initiative follows the region's recent efforts to integrate synthetic media into local creative sectors, building on the momentum of the Korea AI Content Awards held in Gyeonggi Province last September.
