The television anime adaptation of Midori Satō's Horror Collector (Kyōfu Collector) has officially locked in its broadcast schedule. The series will debut on NHK on October 10, with a confirmed 12-episode run. A newly released teaser trailer provides a first look at the production, while also previewing the opening theme song, "Kagebōshi," performed by Shikao Suga.
Studio Palette is handling the animation, with Yuki Inaba directing the project and overseeing series composition. Inaba is joined by character designer Kaori Yoshikawa, composer Masato Kōda, and audio director Tetsuya Gunji. The cast features Hiiro Ishibashi as the mysterious protagonist Fushigi Senno, alongside Jun Fukuyama as Jimmy, Saori Hayami as Himitsu, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as the Blue Umbrella Man.
Based on the long-running novel series supervised by Norio Tsuruta, the story follows a boy in a red hood who appears in towns plagued by paranormal phenomena and urban legends. While the original novels have spanned 28 volumes since 2015, the anime adaptation arrives as the franchise continues to expand internationally, with Yen Press currently publishing both the novels and the single-volume manga adaptation under their JY for Kids imprint.
With a veteran production team behind it and a clear 12-episode structure, the series is positioned as a concise supernatural mystery. Given the source material's focus on episodic creepypasta-style encounters, it remains to be seen how the narrative will balance individual horror stories with the overarching mystery of the boy in the red hood.
