Following the conclusion of her long-running series Honey Lemon Soda earlier this year, manga artist Mayu Murata is returning to the pages of Shueisha's Ribon magazine. The October issue announced that Murata will illustrate a 41-page one-shot manga based on the song "Bubble" by musical artist tuki. The project is slated to appear in the magazine's November issue, which arrives on October 2, and will be highlighted by a color page and a featured cover illustration.
This release marks a notable shift for the creator, as it is her first major project since the final chapter of Honey Lemon Soda was published in April. The original series, which ran in Ribon from 2015 to 2026, concluded with its 31st volume released in May. The franchise has seen significant expansion, including a 2021 live-action film and a television anime series that premiered in January 2025.
While Honey Lemon Soda remains available to English-speaking readers through Yen Press and the anime adaptation is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, this new one-shot offers a standalone look at Murata's work. With the artist moving from a decade-long serialization to a shorter, music-inspired format, it remains to be seen if this signals a transition toward shorter-form storytelling or a brief interlude before a new long-term project.
