The television anime adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki's Historie manga has revealed its full main cast and set a January 2027 premiere window. The first promotional video and a second teaser visual were also released for the series, which is being produced by LIDEN FILMS.
Nobunaga Shimazaki reprises his role as the protagonist Eumenes, a young man destined for greatness. Joining him are Ryōta Suzuki as Hieronymous, Kazuya Ichijō as Hieronymous (the Elder), Yūko Kaida as Telesilla, Wataru Takagi as Charon, Satoshi Tsuruoka as Hecateus, Anri Katsu as Thrax, Tsuguo Mogami as Aristotle, Miki Kariya as Perialla, Seiyū Fujiwara as Nicogenes, and Junya Enoki as Tolmides.
The Historie manga, which began serialization in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine in October 2004, has garnered significant acclaim. It has sold over 4.7 million copies and received accolades such as the Media Arts Festival Award for manga in 2010 and the 16th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2012. The story chronicles the life of Eumenes, detailing his rise from humble beginnings to becoming a renowned army commander and personal secretary to Alexander the Great.
Creator Hitoshi Iwaaki, also known for Parasyte, conceived the Historie story over four decades ago. The manga's 12th compiled volume was released on June 21, 2024. Kodansha is publishing the manga in English via its K MANGA platform.
