Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail manga is set to receive a brand-new miniseries, announced via Mashima's official X account. The special series will debut in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on August 5, coinciding with the franchise's 20th anniversary.
The original Fairy Tail manga, which chronicled the adventures of a powerful mage guild, first launched in 2006 and concluded its run in July 2017. The series has spawned multiple anime adaptations, including four television series and two films, alongside various original video animations and spin-off manga.
This new miniseries arrives as the franchise continues to expand. The sequel manga, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, written by Mashima and illustrated by Atsuo Ueda, recently inspired a television anime that premiered in July 2024. Additionally, the Fairy Tail: Dungeons game launched for Nintendo Switch in January and later for PC via Steam in August 2024.
