The 45th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits announced that Keigo Shinzō’s Hirayasumi is entering its final stretch. The story, centered on the unconventional life of 29-year-old Hiroto Ikuta, will wrap up its narrative in two additional chapters. Provided the publication schedule remains on track, the series will reach its conclusion on October 19.

Since its 2021 debut, the manga has earned widespread critical recognition, securing nominations for the Manga Taisho awards and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The narrative, which explores Hiroto’s transition into a new living situation alongside his cousin Natsumi, has maintained a steady following, resulting in over 1.1 million copies currently in circulation. Viz Media continues to manage the English-language distribution of the volumes.

Although the print run is ending, the franchise remains a significant focus for the studio. Following a live-action adaptation that aired on NHK in 2025, a television anime project is currently in production. Scheduled for a January 2027 premiere on NHK General, the project is a collaborative effort between Viz Media, Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, and Production +h. With the source material now complete, the upcoming anime stands as a definitive adaptation of Shinzō's work.
