The production team for the Hirayasumi anime has revealed five additional cast members joining the project. The new additions include Daisuke Namikawa as Hideki Noguchi, Yōko Hikasa as Yomogi Tachibana, Yume Miyamoto as Akari Yokoyama, Yūichirō Umehara as Ryō Ishikawa, and Japanese television announcer Yūko Naitō, who will serve as the series narrator. They join a previously announced main cast featuring Yūma Uchida, Mayu Takahashi, and Rikako Aikawa.
Directed by Kei Suezawa at Production +h., the series adapts Keigo Shinzō’s manga, which follows the life of the carefree 29-year-old Hiroto Ikuta. The production features character designs by Naoyuki Asano and a musical score composed by Kaori Sawada. The anime is set to make its television debut on NHK General in January 2027, with Viz Media already confirmed to manage the English release later that same year.
This adaptation follows the manga's successful run in Weekly Big Comic Spirits, which has garnered over 1.1 million copies in circulation and multiple award nominations, including the Manga Taisho and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The franchise previously expanded into live-action with an NHK series that aired in late 2025. With the core cast now largely in place, the focus shifts to how the studio will translate the series' grounded, character-driven tone into the animation format.
