Heaven Burns Red, the ambitious mobile RPG from creator Jun Maeda, is moving toward its conclusion. Producer Yohei Kakinuma confirmed that the game’s main narrative, which was originally mapped out as a six-chapter saga, has entered its final chapter. While the main story arc is nearing its end, Kakinuma emphasized that the game service itself will remain active.
Development on the story has been a long-term project; Kakinuma revealed that Maeda finished the complete plot outline for the game back in March 2019. The team is currently determining the specific rollout and length for this final act, as they look to wrap up the emotional journey of Ruka Kayamori and her fellow Seraph-wielding soldiers. To mark the milestone, the game has introduced unit 19A, bringing fresh characters and voice talent into the fold.
Since its February 2022 launch in Japan—following several delays—the title has expanded significantly beyond its core gameplay. The franchise has seen a steady stream of multimedia support, including a comic anthology published by Kadokawa, regular four-panel manga strips, and a stage play that premiered in late 2025. Following the game's English release by Yostar in November 2024, international players are now syncing up with the Japanese schedule to witness the conclusion of this high-stakes battle against the Phage.
