Singer halca has been tapped to perform the ending theme song for the upcoming anime Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games (Tai Ari Deshita: Ojō-sama wa Kakutō Game Nante Shinai). Titled "New Game," the track joins the opening theme "Inochi Mijikashi Tai Suru Otome yo!" by rock band Hanabie.
The anime, based on Eri Ejima's manga, is set to premiere on July 7 across AT-X, Tokyo MX, MBS, BS NTV, and Nagasaki Broadcasting. The series will feature a voice cast including Ikumi Hasegawa as Aya Mitsuki and Kana Ichinose as Mio Yorue. Notably, real-life fighting game commentator Aru will voice the in-story commentator Flamberge.
Diomedéa is handling animation under director Shōta Ihata, with series scripts by Wataru Watari. The production is also collaborating with Capcom's Street Fighter 6, which will feature a special promotional video in its Battle Hub from June 2-30 and offer six title cards for players from June 2 to July 14.
Seven Seas publishes the manga in English, describing the story as following Aya's transfer to the refined Kuromi Girls' Academy, where she discovers her idol Shirayuri's secret passion for hardcore fighting games. The anime adaptation was first announced in 2021 and was originally slated for a 2025 debut.
