Haikyu!! fans have a new reason to look forward to the franchise's cinematic conclusion. The production team has released a fresh teaser and key visual for the upcoming short anime special, Haikyū!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro (Where Monsters Go). The special is set to highlight the intense matchup between Fukurōdani Academy and Mujinazaka High School, providing a deep dive into a fan-favorite clash that sits outside the main Karasuno narrative.
This special will be paired with the second film in the Haikyu!! Final project, titled Gekijōban Haikyū!! VS Chiisana Kyojin (Haikyu!! Vs. The Little Giant). The film picks up immediately following the events of HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, which saw massive success at the global box office. Susumu Mitsunaka, who helmed the first film and the previous television seasons, returns to both write the script and direct the new feature at Production I.G.
With the first film in the two-part finale grossing over $14 million in its opening weekend in Japan, expectations for this concluding chapter are high. The series continues to maintain a strong presence in the anime community, consistently ranking among the top-rated sports titles across platforms like MyAnimeList. By bridging the gap between the Karasuno-Nekoma showdown and the encounter with the "Little Giant," the Bakemono-tachi special serves as a crucial piece of the franchise's final theatrical rollout scheduled for next year.
