GungHo has announced Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet, a sequel to its 2020 free-to-play online action game, is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is slated to launch next spring.
The sequel will introduce the series' first-ever open-world experience. Players will embark on an adventure across vast landscapes in an unknown world, seeking a way back to Earth after breaking a forbidden seal. The narrative is described as the first half of a two-part saga.
Gameplay mechanics will include familiar Ninja Gum actions such as Gum Hook, Gum Boost, and Gum Balloon for traversal. Players can engage in exhilarating IPPON victories against enemies using a variety of weapons, or team up with up to three other players in co-op mode to battle formidable giant foes.
The original Ninjala game was released in June 2020 and later inspired a television anime that premiered in January 2022, alongside a net anime that debuted in June 2020. The game itself was initially planned for a spring 2019 release.
