Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus has added Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi to its voice cast. Yamaguchi will portray Black Lotus, the former leader of the renowned Lotus Circus and father to protagonist Mizuka. He is credited with teaching Mizuka her acrobatic skills and is currently depicted as a wanderer.
The original anime project from Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Psyde Kick Studio premiered on July 4th, airing on channels including Tokyo MX and BS11. Japanese streaming began on ABEMA and d Anime Store, with Crunchyroll also offering the series internationally, including an English dub.
The story is set in the late 1950s and early 1960s, during Japan's economic boom, where circus performances were a major draw. It follows the struggling "Sunflower Circus" troupe and their encounter with a prodigious young performer named Mizuka Tsurumaki, exploring the dreams of young girls in the unique world of the circus.
Kanta Kamei directs the series, with original character designs by Kurehito Misaki and scripts by Takeshi Kikuchi. A-1 Pictures established Psyde Kick Studio in July 2025 to foster creative freedom and explore new animation possibilities.
