A television anime adaptation is in the works for Tsukasa Unohana's mahjong manga Gokigenyō, Ikkyoku Ikaga? (Good Day to You, How About a Game?). The announcement was made via Houbunsha's Comic Fuz website.
The series, which began serialization in Manga Time Kirara Carat in June 2022, follows Sae, a student at an elite girls' school struggling to find her place. Her life takes a turn when the admired Chise discovers Sae playing mahjong on her phone, sparking a connection between them centered on the game.
Leading the anime production is director Kaori, known for their work on Stardust Telepath. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who handled series composition for Is the order a rabbit?, will fill the same role. Character designs will be managed by Mai Otsuka, who previously worked on The Demon Girl Next Door. The anime is being produced at Felix Film.
The manga's fifth compiled volume was released in Japan on Friday, coinciding with the anime announcement. The series has garnered attention since its debut, with this adaptation poised to introduce the story to a new audience.
