A television anime adaptation is in the works for Aki Irie's Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest (Hokuhokusei ni Kumo to Yuke) manga. An official website launched today to announce the news, accompanied by a commemorative illustration from Irie herself.
The series, penned by the creator of Ran And The Gray World, unfolds in Iceland and centers on 17-year-old Kei Miyama. Miyama possesses the unique ability to communicate with cars and has a peculiar aversion to attractive women. He works as a private investigator, tackling cases that range from locating a lost dog to reuniting a woman with a past love, and even searching for his own younger brother.
Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest first debuted in 2016 in Harta magazine. It later moved to Kadokawa's Aokishi when that publication launched. Following Aokishi's cessation of serialization in February 2025, a new entity, Yukiwarisо̄, took over publication last October. The manga's seventh volume was released in Japan in 2024. Vertical initially licensed the series in 2018, with Kodansha USA Publishing now handling its English release.
