Legendary manga artist Gō Nagai, alongside his studio Dynamic Pro, is set to release a new manga titled Chikyū Taisen 2053 (The Great Earth Battle 2053). This special work will commemorate the 3,000th issue of Nihonbungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku magazine.
The new manga is slated to appear in the landmark 3,000th issue on July 3. It will debut with 36 pages, including an opening color spread, and will be featured on the magazine's front cover. The publication has not yet specified whether Chikyū Taisen 2053 will be a standalone one-shot or the beginning of a serialized run.
Nagai, known for groundbreaking works such as Cutie Honey, Devilman, Mazinger Z, and Getter Robo, has remained active in manga creation. His recent projects include the Devilman Saga manga, which concluded in 2020, and the autobiographical Gekiman! series.
Weekly Manga Goraku, which began as Manga Goraku Dokuhon in 1964 before becoming Weekly Manga Goraku in 1971, is celebrating a significant milestone with its 3,000th issue. The special anniversary issue will be available at a reduced price of 110 yen. Source: Anime News Network
