The worlds of samurai comedy Gintama and stop-motion animation Pui Pui Molcar are converging for a unique collaboration. Announced on April 8, the two popular franchises are launching joint pop-up stores in Tokyo and Osaka, offering fans a chance to purchase exclusive merchandise.
The collaboration features newly drawn illustrations pairing characters from Gintama with beloved Molcar vehicles. Fans can expect to see Gintoki Sakata with Potato, Tōshirō Hijikata with Sushi Molcar, Shinpachi Shimura with Abbey, Kamui with Teddy, Shinsuke Takasugi with DJ Molcar, Sōgo Okita with Shiromo, Kagura with Choco, and Kotarō Katsura with Peter.
The Tokyo pop-up store is set to open on the sixth floor of Magnet by Shibuya 109 from April 24 to May 5. Following this, the Osaka location will be on the fourth floor of Abeno Lucbus, running from May 30 to June 7. A wide array of goods will be available, including acrylic stands, keychains, clear file folders, pouches, pins, photo cards, stickers, tote bags, t-shirts, and car magnets, with prices ranging from approximately $3.50 to $55.60 USD.
Shoppers who spend 2,200 yen (about $14 USD) or more will receive a random collaboration bromide as a bonus. The announcement was made via the official X (formerly Twitter) accounts for both Gintama and Pui Pui Molcar, as well as a dedicated collaboration account.
