The surreal comedy Giant Ojō-sama is making the jump to television. A newly launched production website confirmed a January 2027 premiere, accompanied by an initial visual that highlights the series' premise of a young heiress dealing with sudden, massive growth spurts.
Production is underway at Tatsunoko Production with Hiroshi Ikehata, director of WITCH WATCH, leading the project. The staff roster includes assistant director Katsuya Oshima and Hajime Mitsuda, who will pull double duty as character designer and chief animation director. Series composition and scriptwriting are being handled by Yū Satō, recognized for work on Azur Lane: Slow Ahead!.
Nikumura Q’s original manga, which has been running on Shogakukan's Sunday Webry platform since 2020, follows Oriko Fujidō. As the scion of an ultra-wealthy family, Oriko’s life is already eccentric—she owns an entire town—but it becomes truly chaotic when she begins growing to gargantuan proportions. After a mysterious drink from her butler, Sebastian, turns her into a giant to combat an invading threat, she finds that her attempts to protect her home often cause more destruction than the enemy itself.
The source material has built a strong reputation, earning a nomination for the eighth Next Manga Awards in 2022 and ranking fifth in AnimeJapan's 2023 "Most Wanted Anime Adaptation" poll. With the 12th compiled volume arriving in August, the upcoming series aims to translate its unique brand of scale-based humor to the screen.
