The upcoming original anime film Ghost: Yoru no Hate has unveiled its two lead voice actors alongside a third teaser trailer. Mayu Hotta, known for her role in Blue Thermal, will voice the character Nike, while Issei Takahashi, recognized for his work in the live-action Whisper of the Heart, joins the cast as Masu. The film is currently slated for a Japanese theatrical debut on February 11, 2027.
Production is being handled by the powerhouse studio Madhouse, with Shingo Natsume of One Punch Man fame directing the project and penning the screenplay. The visual aesthetic draws from the distinct style of manga artist Natsume Ono, whose character designs are being adapted for animation by Norifumi Kugai. The project’s atmosphere is further defined by the musical contributions of Hitsujibungaku; the band is set to provide six tracks for the film, including the main theme and the insert song "Sugar," which is featured in the latest promotional footage.
This project marks another ambitious collaboration for Natsume, who has previously demonstrated a knack for high-concept storytelling. With the music provided by Oozora Kimishima and the character work originating from the creator of ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., the film is shaping up to be a significant release for the studio's 2027 slate.
