Fans of the beloved otaku culture slice-of-life series Genshiken will be pleased to learn that a new sequel is on the way. The announcement comes as a continuation of the original anime's narrative, which followed Kanji Sasahara and his fellow members of the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture.
This new entry builds upon the foundation laid by the original TV series and its subsequent OVA, Genshiken OVA. The original anime, produced by Palm Studio, adapted Kenshiro Morii's manga and offered a humorous and often poignant look at college life through the lens of dedicated otaku. The franchise also includes the spin-off Kujibiki Unbalance, which itself was a meta-commentary within the Genshiken universe.
