The Gelpiyo anime, a project centered on the mascot character for industrial manufacturer Taica, is set to return for a sequel series. Tokyo MX confirmed the new installment will begin airing on the Tokyo MX1 channel on October 21, continuing the story of the characters designed to showcase the company's proprietary "Alpha Gel" shock-absorbing technology.
The production brings back the core cast from the original 10-episode run, which debuted earlier this year on January 21. Emi Nitta and Shōta Aoi reprise their roles as Gelpiyo/BroPiyo and Aopiyo/Obapiyo, respectively. The sequel also introduces guest talent, including Park Yu Chun as a fortuneteller and hip-hop artist SU appearing as himself. Musical contributions are heavily integrated into the production, with Silent Siren performing the opening theme and Never End Roll providing the ending track. Members of both groups will also voice in-story characters inspired by their respective bands.
Set in the mysterious Geltown, the series follows the Gelpiyo characters as they attempt to carry out a plot for world domination on behalf of Alpha Industry. Despite their mission, the characters frequently find themselves distracted by the chaotic events of the town. With the original series having been available on R Channel, viewers should watch for potential streaming updates as the October premiere approaches.
