The upcoming television anime adaptation of the hit battle royale game, Free Fire Daybreak, has released its first promotional video. The footage offers a glimpse into the series' narrative, centered on a near-future metropolis known as New Dawn. The story follows 16-year-old Kelly, who finds herself at the heart of a mystery involving the controlling Horizon Corporation and a latent ability called "Limit Break."
Directed by Ken Takahashi, known for his work on Ragna Crimson and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, the project is being produced by studio Candy Box. The studio, which previously handled Blue Archive The Animation, is tasked with bringing the game's high-stakes action to the screen. Music production for the series is being managed by Sus4 Inc.
Set for a global broadcast and streaming release in spring 2027, the anime is a collaborative effort between Kadokawa and Garena. While the mobile game Garena Free Fire has dominated global download charts since its 2017 debut—boasting 100 million daily active users as of early 2024—this adaptation aims to expand the franchise's lore by exploring the conspiracy-laden city of New Dawn alongside familiar characters like Hayato and Moco.
