Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a new short anime and video game for the Future GPX Cyber Formula series, commemorating its 35th anniversary. The upcoming short anime serves as a direct sequel to the 1998 OVA, Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin. Alongside the anime, a new game titled Future GPX Cyber Formula Spiral is also in development.
A promotional video and a new visual by character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu were unveiled, offering a teaser glimpse of the new anime. The announcement also revealed the design for the anime's new racing machine, the Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G, created by the series' original mechanical designer Shōji Kawamori. The staff for the new anime includes both veteran creators and new talent, with a focus on hand-drawn animation rather than CG.
The Future GPX Cyber Formula Spiral game will feature an original storyline, with supervision from the series' general director Mitsuo Fukuda. The original Future GPX Cyber Formula TV anime first aired in 1991, followed by several OVA sequels including Future GPX Cyber Formula 11, Zero, Saga, and Sin.
