Ayaka Katayama has announced that her manga Fungus and Iron (Kin to Tetsu) will wrap up its run in the upcoming 10th compiled volume. Katayama shared the news on her X (formerly Twitter) account on April 10th, noting that the 9th volume, which just released, plunges into the final battle.
Launched in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in March 2021, Fungus and Iron experienced a hiatus due to Katayama's maternity leave, resuming serialization in March 2022. Kodansha USA is releasing the series digitally, describing it as the story of Dante, whose seemingly normal life on Amigasa is upended by a chance encounter with a young woman named Aoi.
The manga's eighth volume was published in Japan on October 9, 2025, with the English digital release following on February 24th. Notably, the series is also slated to receive an anime adaptation.
