The long-awaited television adaptation of Kyouko Hikawa's beloved shōjo fantasy From Far Away (Kanata Kara) has confirmed a firm release date, with the series set to debut on Tokyo MX on October 4 at 24:00 JST. Following the premiere, the show will expand to ABC TV on October 10 and WOWOW on October 13, bringing the classic 90s adventure to a new generation.
Alongside the release schedule, production details have finally come to light. Renowned director Noriyuki Abe, known for his work on Bleach and Great Teacher Onizuka, is helming the project at Studio DEEN. The production team also features Rika Takasugi handling series composition, character designs by Eiji Abiko, and a score composed by Takeshi Hama. A newly released teaser trailer offers an early look at the animation style and introduces the core cast.
The voice acting lineup features Tomoyo Kurosawa as the displaced protagonist Noriko Tachiki, with Kentarō Kumagai stepping into the role of her mysterious protector, Izark. They are joined by Yūichirō Umehara as Rachev and Eiji Takeuchi as Kaemos Lee Goda. The anime aims to capture the high-stakes journey of Noriko, who finds herself transported to a hostile fantasy realm where she is prophesied to unlock a dormant, terrifying power within her savior, Izark.
Originally serialized in Hakusensha's LaLa magazine from 1991 to 2002, the source material remains a staple of the shōjo genre. With the production team now fully unveiled, the transition from the 14-volume manga to the small screen is shaping up to be one of the most notable revivals of the season.
