Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko (Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko) has added two notable voice talents to its roster. Following the second episode of the series, it was revealed that Noriko Hidaka will portray Misato Ichigeki, the mother of the lead character Danko, while Misato Fukuen has been cast as Danko’s grandmother, Haruka Ichigeki.

Noriko Hidaka’s involvement serves as a bridge to the franchise's history. Beyond her new role as Misato, she is also reprising her iconic performance as Danpei Ichigeki for flashback sequences and providing the narration for the sequel series. This connection honors the legacy of the original 1991 Dodge Danpei anime, which also featured Hidaka in the lead role.

The series, which premiered on July 6, follows Danko Ichigeki as she attempts to build the premier dodgeball team of the Reiwa era. The production is helmed by director Hiroshi Ikehata at studio CUE, with series scripts handled by Kazuho Hyōdō and character designs by Narihito Sekikawa.

Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko continues the story established by Tetsuhiro Koshita’s original 1989 manga. While the current sequel began serialization on the Weekly CoroCoro Comic website in 2022, the franchise remains a pillar of classic sports anime, with the new production aiming to capture the same competitive spirit for a modern audience.
