Firefly Wedding, the adaptation of Oreko Tachibana’s suspenseful manga, has locked in an October 9 premiere date. The series will join the prestigious Noitamina programming block on Fuji TV, airing Fridays at 11:30 p.m. To celebrate the announcement, a second teaser trailer has been released, offering fans a first listen to the ending theme song, "Yumegokochi," performed by TOOBOE.
Joining the previously announced leads, Lynn as Satoko Kirigaya and Kōki Uchiyama as the enigmatic assassin Shinpei Gotō, are two industry veterans. Kent Itō steps into the role of Kōtarō Ogawa, while Kenjirō Tsuda joins the production as Mitsueda. The series follows the desperate bargain of a noblewoman with limited time to live who proposes marriage to the very assassin sent to end her life.
The production is currently in the hands of david production, with Takahiro Kamei (known for his work on the recent Urusei Yatsura) directing. The creative team also features character designer Yukiko Aikei and series composer Yūko Kakihara, both of whom bring extensive experience to this dark, romantic thriller. International audiences can catch the series via Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan.
Since its debut on the Manga ONE app in early 2023, the original manga has quickly built a following, with Shogakukan releasing its 12th volume earlier this summer. Viz Media manages the English-language release, ensuring global readers are caught up on Satoko’s high-stakes gamble before the anime hits screens this autumn.
