Nintendo has pulled back the curtain on Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, providing an extensive look at the gameplay loop, class variety, and the complex narrative structure of the upcoming title. The game centers on the 'Heroic Games' and follows four distinct protagonists, each with their own motivations, ranging from familial duty to vengeance. Players will navigate the capital city of Dagsion, utilizing 'Free Time' to train units, manage gear, and recruit allies before heading into tactical, turn-based combat.
The combat system builds on the series' foundation by reintroducing classic weapon types while adding depth through 'Combat Arts' and high-risk 'Blaze Arts,' the latter of which consume unit health. The class hierarchy is notably expansive, featuring unique roles like elephant riders, charioteers, and bardingers. Beyond standard skirmishes, the game incorporates dungeon-crawling elements that shift the tactical pace toward a more traditional RPG experience. A unique 'Pale Raven's Perch' mechanic allows players to toggle between the four leads, facilitating parallel story progression.
Narratively, the game takes a bold step by introducing a time-skip five years after the Heroic Games. Following the disappearance of the initial cast, players take on the role of a soul summoned by Sothis—a familiar face for those who played Fire Emblem: Three Houses—to potentially alter the fates of the missing heroes. This central mystery serves as the backbone for the game's campaign.
To support the launch, a prologue manga illustrated by Kazurō Kyō is scheduled to arrive on September 4 via Saikyō Jump and the Shonen Jump+ platform. When the game hits the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, fans will also have the option to pick up the 'Dagdan Collection' special edition, which bundles a steel case, character art cards, a map of the region, and an artbook.
