Exploration in Evercold will take players to three distinct new areas: the water-themed Naglfar, the fire-focused Hringhorni, and the mysterious Fargarth. Beyond the main expansion content, the event confirmed a high-profile collaboration with Neon Genesis Evangelion. Titled "Ghosts of Desire," the crossover will feature contributions from veteran animator and director Mahiro Maeda. Additionally, fans of Final Fantasy VII Remake can look forward to an eight-player raid series titled "Beyond the Lifestream."
Systemic updates were also a focal point, with Yoshida detailing a shift toward a more weekly-based activity structure and a revamped Adventurer Activity user interface. Alongside these gameplay adjustments, Square Enix set an August 4 release date for the previously announced Nintendo Switch 2 version of the MMORPG, further expanding the game's hardware footprint following its successful launch on Xbox Series X|S last year.
These updates arrive as the franchise continues its decade-long support plan announced in 2022.
